Spotlight – Deland, FL:

Deland, about an hour north of Orlando and 30 miles West of Daytona is home to Volusia County Clerk of Circuit Court. A historic town with a modern courthouse built in 2001. A great combination for a productive trial and a little change of pace

from some of the larger cities many of our clients travel from.

Downtown Deland is steeped in history and loaded with every sort of mom-and-pop store that you could imagine. Missing from your stroll around the blocks that surround the courthouse is any evidence that the large chains are encroaching on this cute town.

Deland is home to Stetson University, founded in 1883 and once known as Deland University. The name of the college changed in 1889 in honor of the hat maker known as John B. Stetson. Furthermore, in the year of 1900 the Stetson University College of Law was founded. It was historically the first law school in Florida. Today, downtown Deland consists of a mix of people that create a hybrid of rural Florida, students and those that have escaped the chaos of Daytona and Orlando. Good people.

When preparing for a trial – scanning – copies – trial binders – nothing we need more than great espresso. Boston Coffee house steps up (www.thebostoncoffeehouse.com with an extensive breakfast and lunch menu. It is a great place to grab some internet, have a quick meeting, or just enjoy some down time maybe after a long day in court. There is even a private meeting room available for special occasions or possibly a trial preparation meeting. If you are in for some breakfast, try one of the breakfast sandwiches with a pretzel bun or the French toast panini for something a little different.
